Anti-junta activist Aekachai Hongkangwan and four others have been found not guilty by the Criminal Court for their alleged involvement in blocking the motorcade of Her Majesty the Queen during a 2020 anti-government protest. The court ruled that the defendants did not commit the offense and cited the police’s failure to notify protesters in advance of the motorcade’s presence. The defendants were charged with violating Section 110 of the Criminal Code, which carries a life imprisonment or a 16-20 year sentence if convicted. The court noted the presence of crowd control police and protesters made it impossible for the defendants to see the motorcade.
