The Move Forward party has been advised to focus on addressing “bread-and-butter” issues instead of pushing for a change in Thailand’s national day. Move Forward MP Rangsiman Rome recently proposed changing the national day from December 5th to June 24th, the date of the bloodless revolution in 1932 that transformed Thailand into a constitutional monarchy. However, Srettha Thavisin, a prime ministerial candidate and chief advisor to the Pheu Thai party, warned that such a change would create more friction in Thai society and would not improve the livelihoods of the people.
