Google is allowing users in the US to change their Google Account username, including the bit before the @ in their Gmail address. This change comes as Gmail celebrates 22 years of existence, giving users an opportunity to update their outdated email addresses. Users can visit the email settings page on myaccount.google.com to make the change, with the option to alter their username becoming available once every 12 months. Previous emails will be retained, and the old Gmail name will still function as an alternate email address. This update allows users to be contacted through both addresses and sign into Google services using either one.
