Match Group and its subsidiary OkCupid have settled a lawsuit with the Federal Trade Commission dating back to 2014 over the alleged sharing of user data with a third party company, Clarifai. The FTC accused OkCupid of sharing personal user data, including photos and location info, without informing users or giving them the option to opt out. Despite denying wrongdoing, OkCupid agreed to the settlement which includes stricter data collection and consumer choice guidelines. OkCupid also faced security flaws in 2020 that exposed user account info but were promptly fixed.
