Since recent queues at Phuket International Airport were caused by a temporary system slowdown, immigration police denied claims of a paid “special lane” for passengers. The disruption led to delays and intermittent faults in the immigration information system, prompting officers to switch to an offline process with reduced steps for outbound passenger checks. Despite handling a high number of outbound flights during the incident, officers continued processing passengers efficiently. Immigration Division 2 apologized for the inconvenience and assured the public of their clear contingency plans for such disruptions. Plans are also in place to install Automated Border Control gates for improved processing speed in the future.
