Thai authorities recently arrested eight individuals for illegally crossing the border in Aranyaprathet district after falling victim to a scam in Cambodia. The group, consisting of seven Thai citizens and one Lao national, were recruited for high-paying jobs through social media but were ultimately abandoned near the frontier. They were coerced into opening online bank accounts and had their phones and IDs confiscated before being left to make their own way back to Thailand. The suspects have been handed over for legal proceedings as authorities caution the public against falling for similar fraudulent job offers.
