Between March 16 and 22, over 140 foreign nationals were arrested in Chonburi for illegal employment, particularly in Pattaya’s entertainment and service sectors. The crackdown aims to enforce labor laws and protect job opportunities for Thai nationals. The arrests included individuals from Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, China, and Vietnam, engaged in restricted occupations under Thai law. Authorities have revoked 250 visas related to illegal employment since February and are collaborating with ride-hailing platforms to prevent foreign workers from using Thai accounts unlawfully. Immigration officials are intensifying enforcement nationwide to curb violations and maintain control over foreign workers operating illegally.
