Horror is gaining recognition in the mainstream, with films like Sinners, Weapons, and Frankenstein winning awards for exceptional performances and directing. Jane Schoenbrun’s debut, We’re All Going to the World’s Fair, marked a shift in the genre. Following this, Schoenbrun’s 2024 project, I Saw the TV Glow, explores trans experiences while blending ’90s nostalgia. Upcoming film, Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, features Gillian Anderson as a recluse in a slasher film and offers a unique spin on the genre. Anderson describes it as an “uber meta slasher” that promises fun and depth when released on August 7.
