Disney’s live-action “Cinderella” spinoff, titled “Stepsisters,” will be directed by Akiva Schaffer. The film takes a comedic approach to the story’s antagonistic characters, with a screenplay by Dan Gregor and Doug Mand, based on an original script by Michael Montemayor. Produced by Ali Bell for Party Over Here, the studio continues its trend of live-action adaptations following successes like the 2015 “Cinderella” and upcoming “Lilo & Stitch” and “Moana.” Disney is also working on a live-action film featuring “Beauty and the Beast” villain Gaston, while Jessica Virtue and Cady Stark oversee “Stepsisters” for the studio.
