The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, originally by Washington Irving, has inspired numerous adaptations, including Tim Burton’s 1999 film. A new comic, Sleepy Hollow: The Witches of the Western Wood, written by Delilah S. Dawson and illustrated by Jose Jaro, serves as a prequel to the film and is set to launch its five-issue run from IDW DARK. The story follows Sarah Archer, a girl raised in witchcraft, before Mary Van Tassel unleashes the Headless Horseman. Expected for pre-order on March 30 and in stores May 6, the comic promises to dive deeper into the lore of Sleepy Hollow.
