At SXSW, writer-director Russell Goldman shared that his film, Sender, originated from an incident involving Jamie Lee Curtis receiving the wrong package. This concept evolved from Goldman’s 2022 short, Return to Sender, into a feature film where Julia, played by Britt Lower, navigates odd deliveries post-recovery. The narrative intertwines themes of addiction and obsession with online shopping but suffers from chaotic editing and a lack of coherence. Despite its ambitious ideas and a strong cast, including Rhea Seehorn and David Dastmalchian, the execution leaves much to be desired, ultimately presenting a muddled experience.
