Government says Thailand records three meningococcal deaths

The Thai government has directed the Department of Disease Control (DDC) to monitor an outbreak of meningococcal disease in the UK, with three deaths reported in Thailand. The outbreak in the UK mainly involves students, with about 20 cumulative cases and two deaths recorded. Thailand’s cases are separate from the UK’s, with five cumulative cases and three deaths. The DDC continues close surveillance due to the severe nature of the illness, urging prompt reporting of any suspected cases. Symptoms include fever, headache, and neck stiffness.
