A border patrol policeman was killed in a gun battle with suspected insurgents in Nong Chik district of southern Pattani. Security forces surrounded the area and engaged in a firefight with the suspects, resulting in the death of the policeman. One suspect was shot dead, while another managed to escape. The group is believed to be linked to the insurgent network of “Wae Aree” and was reportedly planning attacks against security forces. Authorities are intensifying security operations to track down the remaining suspects.
