More than 9.3 million individuals in Thailand have had their names removed from police criminal record files, as they were either found not guilty, acquitted, fined, or given mild sentences by the court. The Royal Thai Police are developing a website that will allow the public to check if their names are included or removed from the records. Those whose names remain are still pending cases. The clearance of criminal records enables individuals to apply for jobs in both the public and private sectors. There are three types of criminal record files, with the first two being confidential and cannot be disclosed to the public.
