The Thai delegation to the Asean summits will be led by Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Sarun Charoensuwan, as newly elected Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin has not yet taken an oath. Sarun will represent Thailand at the 43rd Asean Summit and related meetings, including the Asean-Indo Pacific Forum. At the summit, several outcome documents will be released, including the Jakarta Declaration, which emphasizes Asean’s centrality and its role in the Indo-Pacific region. Joint statements with South Korea and the US will also be endorsed. Additionally, a joint statement between Asean and China on cooperation between AOIP and the Belt and Road Initiative will be endorsed. The chairmanship of the summit will be handed over to Lao People’s Democratic Republic in January.
