Jakarta – ASEAN is set to grant Japan a comprehensive strategic partnership (CSP) during the ASEAN summit. The announcement will be made at the ASEAN-Japan summit on September 6th. Japan’s significant contributions to the development and integration of the ASEAN Community make it deserving of the CSP. Currently, ASEAN has four CSP members, and countries like South Korea and the EU plan to apply for the status. Japan and ASEAN are celebrating their 50th anniversary of friendship and cooperation this year. Japan has proposed numerous initiatives to strengthen bilateral ties with ASEAN, which will be launched at the Tokyo summit.
