The newly appointed Digital Economy and Society (DES) Minister in Thailand is being urged by industry leaders to address online scams, boost cross-border e-commerce for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and provide incentives for technological investments. The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBC) plans to collaborate with the minister on initiatives to bridge the country’s digital divide. Industry associations have called for streamlined e-commerce policies, cross-border transactions, and a Thai fulfillment center in China. Urgent action is also sought to curb call center and online scams. Other proposals include a digital handout and the establishment of a National Board of Digital Transformation.
