Thai PM Srettha will not attend ASEAN summits this week

Newly elected Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin will not be attending the ASEAN summit in Jakarta due to his government not having taken an oath or delivered a policy statement to parliament yet. Instead, the Thai delegation will be led by Sarun Charoensuwan, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs. The three-day summit will have numerous meetings among ASEAN leaders and their dialogue partners, with Sarun participating in all the sessions and also attending the ASEAN-Indo Pacific Forum. Twenty-one outcome documents will be released, including the Jakarta Declaration “ASEAN Matters: Epicentrum of Growth” and joint statements with South Korea and the US.
