Thailand’s National Vaccine Institute (NVI) is making significant progress with its first domestically produced Covid-19 vaccine, HXP-GPOVac. The vaccine is currently in its third stage of clinical trials and is expected to conclude this phase by the end of the month. The Government Pharmaceutical Organization (GPO) oversees the vaccine’s production and aims to make it available as a booster shot in early 2023. The GPO plans to produce between five to ten million doses annually once it receives approval from the Food and Drug Administration. The vaccine shows potential for further development to combat future strains. Thailand’s progress in developing its own vaccine demonstrates its commitment to fighting the pandemic.
