Srettha Thavisin, the Prime Minister, has pledged to address the issues facing the fisheries industry in Thailand. Representatives from the industry have called upon the government to revise laws in order to mitigate the effects of restrictions put in place to combat illegal fishing practices. Thavisin proposed the formation of a working committee, headed by Thamanat Prompow, to strategize a comprehensive solution to the industry’s challenges. The industry representatives also urged the government to amend 13 laws aimed at combating illegal fishing practices. Thavisin acknowledged the importance of the fisheries sector and suggested setting up a one-stop service center to address related issues.
