The spa, which involves placing earthworms on the skin, is said to provide relaxation and skincare benefits. However, the Director of the Natural Farming R&D Centre of Maejo University, Arnat Tancho, warns of potential contamination risks. Earthworms carry over 500 microorganism species, some of which can be harmful to human health. Arnat advises people with open wounds or compromised immune systems to avoid the spa. While some compounds in earthworm mucus can benefit the skin, they must be properly cleaned due to individual immunological differences. The spa is not considered safe, although many people have not reported adverse reactions.
