A group of fraudsters disguised as fake police officers tricked shop owners in Pattaya, Thailand into giving them large sums of money. The scammers targeted shops selling products for Myanmar consumers, claiming to be carrying out inspections for illicit merchandise. The shop owners were coerced into paying amounts ranging from 2,000 to 20,000 baht to avoid arrest. Victims have come forward to report the incidents to the Pattaya Police Station, providing CCTV footage as evidence. The police have denied any involvement in the scam and are investigating the case.
