Cybercriminals are constantly finding new ways to deceive people, as demonstrated in a recent case where a scammer posed as news anchor Orakan Chiwakiat and convinced a former governor to invest in cryptocurrencies and digital assets. The victim ultimately lost over 20 million baht, or about 567,000 U.S. dollars. The scammer contacted the victim through Facebook, initially starting a romantic conversation before discussing investments. The scammer used the real news anchor’s profile and even posted content resembling her. The victim lost a significant amount of money as a result of the elaborate scam. Police have warned investors to check the credibility of investment opportunities before investing.
