A green humphead parrot fish, a rare species found only in the Indian and western Pacific oceans, was recently photographed near Losin Island off the coast of Pattani province, Thailand. The fish can grow up to 1.5 meters long, weighing about 75kg, and live for approximately 40 years. One of its unique features is its ability to control seaweed levels in the sea and produce large amounts of sand, several hundred times more than other parrot fish species. However, the fish is at risk of extinction due to fishing and threats to its ecological system.
