Thailand’s Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB) is warning the public about scammers sending SMS messages claiming that they have access to the 10,000 baht subsidy under the “digital wallet” scheme. The scheme, which aims to stimulate the economy, has not yet been launched. CCIB advises people to ignore these messages and not click on any links or URLs attached to them. They also caution against returning calls to unfamiliar numbers and adding friends to Line accounts without caution. From March to August, there have been over 9,400 complaints of fake application installations, resulting in estimated losses of 820 million baht.
