Coming from one of the top political thinkers, the idea that the second largest political party should fight with the largest party to form a government is concerning. Even influential figure Phumtham Wechayachai from the Pheu Thai Party admitted that his party and Move Forward were not far apart in terms of election wins. Therefore, it is puzzling that he suggested Pheu Thai could have been a rival government-forming core. There is no justification for a rivalry between Move Forward and Pheu Thai unless there are irreconcilable ideological differences. However, the truth is that Pheu Thai is closer to Move Forward ideologically than it is to other parties. The proximity in election results and ideological alignment should have facilitated cooperation and pooling of resources, rather than promoting fraudulent and divisive politics.
