Director Josh Greenbaum, known for his film Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar, discusses his new film Strays and how the success of Barb and Star allowed him to make peace with the situation. Strays is a hard-R talking-dog movie that subverts the usual saccharin dog movie genre. The film follows a group of stray dogs who help their main character, Reggie, seek revenge against his former owner. Greenbaum used real dogs for the film and established that the dogs were speaking English to each other, similar to The Hunt for Red October. Greenbaum also talks about his personal connection to the film and how it finally found a theatrical release after the pandemic affected Barb and Star’s release plans.
