Tula had been under the care of the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation for almost a year. After being abandoned by his herd, Tula battled with herpes, a disease contracted in the wild, as well as a metabolic bone disease. Despite the veterinary team’s efforts to save him, Tula’s health rapidly declined and he could not be revived. A post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the exact cause of his death.
