Israel says 2 top Iranian officials killed in airstrikes in blow to Tehran leadership

Israel’s Defense Minister confirmed the deaths of Iran’s top security official, Ali Larijani, and Gen. Gholam Reza Soleimani in overnight strikes. The strikes were part of ongoing tension between the two countries, with Iran defiantly launching missiles and drones at Gulf Arab neighbors and Israel. The attacks have caused casualties and disruptions in the region, with concerns of a global energy crisis as oil facilities are targeted. Israel has retaliated with strikes on Tehran and Beirut, increasing the death toll and displacement in the conflict. The closure of the vital Strait of Hormuz adds to economic and security concerns worldwide.
