POP MART and Sony Pictures have confirmed a feature film in development based on LABUBU, directed by Paul King, who will also produce and co-write the script with Steven Levenson. This project was announced during a global exhibition celebrating THE MONSTERS brand’s 10th anniversary and will be a live-action and CGI hybrid. King, known for his whimsical approach in films like Paddington and Wonka, aims to make this adaptation worthwhile despite its unconventional premise. Kasing Lung, LABUBU’s creator, will serve as an executive producer, with Michael Schaefer and Wenxin She also onboard.
