Thailand plans to cut visa-free stay for foreigners from 60 to 30 days

Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs is considering reducing the visa-free stay period for foreign tourists from 60 days to 30 days to prevent misuse of the scheme. Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow stated that a 30-day visa exemption should be sufficient for most visitors, with the option to apply for a 30-day extension if needed. The proposed measure aims to address loopholes exploited by individuals involved in non-tourism activities while still welcoming international visitors and safeguarding national security.
