A Thai man in Phetchabun warned the public about a petrol scam after paying 40,000 baht for fuel and receiving a container filled with water. The man, identified as Amnat Thueansantier, runs a well-drilling business and discovered the water in the fuel tank when his engine stopped working. Despite not taking legal action, Amnat urged others to check fuel containers carefully when buying from small petrol stations. The incident occurred amid a fuel shortage in Thailand, with the Director-General of the Department of Energy Business apologizing for distribution bottlenecks. Energy Minister Attaphol Rerkpiboon faced criticism for suggesting residents reduce their fuel use to combat higher prices.
